6 months ago Australian downhill rider Remy Morton overshot a landing at Loosefest 2017 and had a massive crash resulting in catastrophic injuries. As you’ll see below though, he’s back riding at levels many riders will only dream of. To tell Remy’s story I’ve highlighted two video clips.
Mountain Bike Australia’s excellent interview below gives you an idea of the scale of Remy’s injuries as he describes both them and the things that happened to him in the weeks after the crash. Another thing I really like about the interview is it gives an insight into Remy’s mindset, determination and how he pulled the positives out of a devastating situation. I recently highlighted Martyn Ashton and Tommy Wilkinson displaying identical traits in Focus, Motivation and Goals – Martyn Ashton’s TEDx Talk.
Below is James Fox’s edit of his friend’s recovery. The video takes you from the initial accident, briefly charts his recovery and ends with his current riding, 6 months on from the crash. Seeing where he’s come from and got to in that time is pretty awe inspiring.
There’s a lot that can be drawn from Remy’s story and how he’s got where he is and you can only wish him well in getting back to where he wants to be.
If you’re going to take the time to practice, practice like the elite.
