Dirty Tricks and Cunning Stunts

dirty

I stumbled across this gem from the past for anyone wanting to learn and develop their riding skills.

The film was originally released by Mountain Biking UK and features Hans Rey, Martyn Ashton and Martin Hawyes in an initial gangster style film sequence that makes way for an instructional video.

Production’s ‘low-fi’ by modern standards but, if you ignore this what you’ve got is 3 legends of trials riding teaching you techniques and the content that’s there leaves a lot of more recent instructional videos for dead.

If you’re looking for something specific the running order goes:

00.00 – 08.50     Starting sequence

08.50 – 11.30       Intro sequence

11.30 – 14.20       The Trackstand

14.20 – 16.10       The Endo

16.10 – 19.00       The Front Pivot

19.00 – 21.10       The Stoppie

21.10 – 22.20       Unweighting the Bike

22.20 – 25.20      The Bunny Hop

25.20 – 29.10       Riding sequence

29.10 – 30.45       The Parallel Bunny Hop

30.45 – 34.00      The Wheelie

34.00 – 35.25       The Coaster Wheelie / Manual

35.25 – 39.50        Going up obstacles

39.50 – 41.15        Parallel Hop Up

41.15 – 41.40        The Drop Off

41.40 – 43.05       The Roll Off

43.05 – 44.40      The “Steep Entry” Drop Off

44.40 – 46.35      The Gap Jump

46.35 – 50.00      The Parallel Drop Off

50.00 – 55.30      The 180

55.30 – 59.20      The Back Wheel Hop

59.20 –                 The Back Wheel Hop Down

or you can just sit back and enjoy the whole film.

Whether your riding trials, street, enduro, downhill (& the list goes on) or just ambling round trail centres, practicing these skills will get you doing what you’re doing a whole lot better.
