Crankworx Rotorua signals the start of this years mountain bike world gravity calendar with the top names in slopestyle, downhill and enduro competing.
The UK’s Bernard Kerr and Holland’s Anneke Beerten were crowned King and Queen of Crankworx in 2015 and will be looking to defend their titles staring in New Zealand this week. The season long series tests the skills of riders across multiple disciplines with the male and female riders who amass the greatest number of points being crowned champion in the Whistler event later this year.
The events running at Rotorua are:
- Official Oceania Whip-Off Championships presented by Spank
- Mons Royale Dual Speed & Style
- Rotorua Pump Track Challenge presented by RockShox
- Crankworx Rotorua Downhill presented by iXS
- GIANT Toa Enduro
- Crankworx Rotorua Slopestyle
The slopestyle event is the crowd favourite and forms part of the Triple Crown of Slopestyle. Brett Rheeder will be looking to go one better than last year and walk away with the $50,000 prize for winning all three events (Rotura, Les Gets & Whistler) but will face significant competition from the likes of Brandon Semenuk, Thomas Genon and Anthony Messerre.
