Hiding on the banks of the River Mersey at the back of an industrial estate in Bromborough is a neat little jump track that I sneak off to every now and then.
Nearest postcode is CH63 3RH. As you get to the roundabout at the bottom of Plantation road turn left on to Riverview road and the entrance is immediately on your right where the Wirral circular trail joins the road. Alternatively you can park in the car park at the bottom of Riverwood road and follow the Wirral circular trail along until you find it. Its a bit remote and the kind of place you wouldn’t want to visit ‘out of hours’ unless you know the area well…….even then you might think twice.
There’s a series of decent enough berms and jumps as well as the shoreline for some ‘freeride’ playtime that keeps me entertained for an hour or so each time I visit.
There’s no real route round the place that I’ve ever figured out so jumps need to be sessioned in sections.
The place itself is built on a fly tipping site so beware of building trade obstacles.
The other downside of this is the large quantity of red building sand that the track is built on – if you’ve ever wondered why you shouldn’t lay a patio on building sand try riding here on a wet day…..it’s boggy and there’s a unique reduction in traction in the turns.
Overall it’s not a place you’re gonna travel from miles around to get to but if you’re local and wanting to practice your jump technique it’s worth a visit.
